Group Class Course for Teachers

Michele George will offer a Group Class Course at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, July 31-August 2, 2009. The course is open to music teachers and aspiring teachers of all instruments, including piano - Suzuki and non-Suzuki, both private and school teachers. Michele George graduated from Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan. She has taught at the Preucil School of Music and Cornell College, and in 1986 was appointed to the faculty of the Cleveland Institute as Director of Suzuki Studies. She is in demand as a teacher internationally.

Participants will learn strategies and techniques for teaching group classes during the ten-hour course. Participants are strongly encouraged to observe group classes taught by Michele George and others at Strings by the Sea, held at Point Loma Nazarene University August 2-6, immediately following the Group Class Course. The tuition fee for the course is $150, and there is no additional charge to observe classes at Strings by the Sea.

The class, held at the Cooper Music Building of Point Loma Nazarene University, will meet: Friday, July 31(4:00 pm - 6:00pm) Saturday, August 1(12:30 pm– 5:00 pm) Sunday, August 2 (12:30 pm - 5:00 pm).

Class size is limited to the first 25 enrollees; interested teachers are encouraged to enroll early.

Space is limited to 15 participants; early registration is recommended. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required with the application. The balance is due by June 1, 2008.
